Hi Reader Friends,

My, how time flies. It’s hard to believe we are again wrapping up another year and a new one’s on the horizon

Has 2018 been good to you? It’s been an interesting year for me, and one filled with many surprises; some good, others challenging.

After a long hiatus, I returned to the travel industry. Second to writing, it’s a career that’s been very fulfilling for me. I like traveling, and I especially enjoy meeting people of different cultures and backgrounds. The foodie in me loves the variety of cuisines, and what better way to sample new foods than finding a restaurant where the locals go.

Southeast Africa was never on my bucket list. What a nice surprise it turned out to be when I was chosen as an ambassador to UNICEF, and ended up in Malawi, Southeast Africa. It was both a humbling and gratifying experience, and in many ways a true eye opener. In Malawi, many exist on 38 cents a day, and malnutrition is still a challenge.

In the rural areas, children eagerly consume their one meal of corn porridge, and usually courtesy of a charity. HIV is still a challenge, and as one overworked doctor shared, even basics like condoms are hard to come by.

This is not about me being a Debbie Downer. But we of the Western world, are spending a small fortune on gifts, and celebrating with elaborate meals, while many are grateful to have a bowl of soup they don’t have to share. .

Feel Good Books!
On a more upbeat note, my new book has just been released. Magnolia Moments is book number 5 in the Eighty-Eight Mississippi series created by author, Bettye Griffin. The setting is a small southern town. If you like humor, mystery, and romance, there are bits of all three here. These are the links on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook:

Comming Very Soon!
Also being released shortly, is Ring in the Holidays, a novella. You will find this novella on the very same platforms.

This season I’m wishing you good health, a basketful of happiness, and lots of good cheer. Because without health, wealth really is meaningless.
May the magic of the season be yours, and may you carry an attitude of gratitude with you always!

Cheers,

Marcia King-Gamble
